BOARD OF TRUSTEES
Governance
The McLean Institute is administered by a Board of Trustees consisting of no fewer than four and no more than eight members.
The Trustees are responsible for ensuring that the Institute’s assets are managed prudently and applied in accordance with its charitable purposes.
Composition of the Board

The Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Christchurch, or their nominee

The Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Christchurch, or their nominee

The Mayor of Christchurch City, or their nominee

The Mayor of Selwyn District, or their nominee
In addition, the Board may appoint up to four additional Trustees to ensure diversity across gender, race, ethnicity, professional qualifications, skills, expertise, and perspectives.
This structure reflects both the historic foundations of the Institute and a commitment to balanced, representative governance.
Role and Responsibility
The Trustees are responsible for:
Ensuring the Institute remains faithful to its founding purpose
Overseeing governance and financial stewardship
Determining how best to apply the Institute’s assets to achieve charitable benefit
Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation
Responding to evolving social needs while maintaining integrity and accountability
The Board is committed to transparency, responsible management, and the long term sustainability of the Institute’s charitable work.
